Srinagar, January 29 (KNO) : Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) on Tuesday expressed serious concern over the plight of its incarcerated chief Shabir Shah and all other Kashmiri prisoners languishing in different state and Indian jails. In a statement issued to KNO, the party has condemned the ill-treatment meted out to the said prisoners and has appealed the Indian civil society and the concerned international forums to use their good offices to end the long and continued incarceration of these political prisoners. “Despite being political prisoners they are kept in very humiliating conditions and treated like criminals,” spokesperson said. The Spokesperson expressed serious concern about the ‘pathetic condition’ of its jailed chairman Shabir Shah lodged in Tihar jail, Delhi from July 2017 and other prisoners in and outside the state Jails. He said that despite being political prisoners, they are denied every right guaranteed in the jail manual. “Revengeful attitude of the rulers in Delhi has crossed every limit of cruelty and callousness. They willfully prolong the stay of Shabir Shah and other Kashmiri prisoners in jails through judicial victimization,” he said. He said that New Delhi is only prolonging the imprisonment of Shabir Shah and other prisoners despite the fact that Shabir Shah desperately needs immediate and suitable medical treatment because he is suffering from many serious ailments. “Shabir Shah and all other Kashmiri political prisoners continue to bear the brunt of the victimization for years together,” he added.(KNO)
